Welcome to Seeking Africa! The premier directory of African Businesses in the United States.

The idea was initially founded around 2014 during my time in Undergrad at the University of North Texas. During my time there I served as President of our African Students Association. This time period exposed me to many different African cultures that I previously had not been exposed to. As a native Nigerian I have always been exposed to my culture, but unfortunately, I was not exposed to too many other African culture prior to my college experience. Upon learning about other African cultures, I became fascinated with the continent as a whole and wanted to learn as much as possible.

Many of my friends (some African and Non-African) would always ask me certain questions like where do you get your traditional wear from? Or where can I find a Nigerian restaurant? Questions such as those sparked a light bulb in my mind. I knew a few places locally in the Dallas Fort Worth area, but I only know those places because my parents are friends of the owners. What if my parents had not been friends with these business owners? I would have no idea where to get traditional African attire or where notable African restaurants were located in the States. Thus, the solution to this problem was founded.

Seeking Africa serves as a business directory for African Business in the United States. The idea is to help provide a directory of all local African businesses in one central location for users to have access. This platform is for Non-Africans as well as Africans! As African I would like us to be more informed on our local business and help empower them economically. As Non-Africans I would like our culture to be experienced and also provide economic support our local businesses.
